Serving Documents

Papers may be served in one of the following ways, depending on the circumstances or type of papers to be served:

  1. Personal Service requires the papers to be hand delivered to the person.
  2. Substituted Service may be used if personal service has not been successful after several attempts to serve the person.
  3. Service by Mail is used in some cases. Papers may be served by mailing them to the person to be served. There are special requirements for this kind of service.
  4. Notice and Acknowledgement of Receipt is another form of service by mail acceptable for original papers.
